Abstract

The seemingly random composition of this scheme is balanced by the author’s bold attitude towards the the design components. The uniquely tiered ground treatment makes the creation unpredictable yet functions delightfully as well as creating incidental spaces. The use and choice of colours further accentuate definitions within the randomness. The scheme intends to become an animate catalyst to the environment surrounding Dataran Merdeka and does it with such gusto and bravado. The randomness of the frames also represents the ‘chaotic circumstances in achieving independence’ and at the same time reflects the ‘struggle in searching a true identity of Malaysian architecture’.
