Abstract

‘Vacillating Constellation’ is to create a new extensive multiple park connectors within the city of Kuala Lumpur, inspired by the formation of stars called constellation. It gives pure direction in connecting points together and offers a new dynamism in user’s activity. The aspects of green atches and green spaces are emphasized, as they form the main elements in creating linkages between two green patches, which are Taman Tasik Perdana and Bukit Nanas in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The design goal is to create comprehensive green linkages within the site to transform it into extensive and remarkable multiple park connectors within the city. Furthermore, by implementing ‘Vacillating Constellation’, a series of green spaces is created throughout the parks, which evokes a series of emotional link and allowing new experience of space and place. The additional new nodes moreover open up more spaces for users to appreciate from the vertical and horizontal vantage point towards the dramatic city. On the other hand, the established green corridor network does not only enable human to experience the greeneries but also increases the connectivity of animal movement within urban areas thus improving biodiversity. As a result, the new connections and nodes within urban areas and green spaces could transform Kuala Lumpur city into vibrant, meaningful and convivial urban spaces.
