Abstract

In the absence of verbal presentations by students in the “Blind Review”, the reviewers certainly did not review the projects blindly. In fact, we were treated with an array of visually stimulating, well designed and presented projects by the third and fourth year students of architecture. The project on Consequential Spaces implies that the resultant spaces are due to some forces at play. Among those forces picked up by students are physical such as orientations and linkages; some are social cultural such as history and memories while some are architectural such as formal compositions and architectonic expressions. The selected projects have embraced the idea of consequential spaces with strong concepts of their own architectural interpretations. Among them include the resolution of two intersecting forces into forest-like spaces, the creation of a variety of exciting spaces with variations of the simple square geometry and the struggle for nationhood expressed as dynamic-folded structure of shifting planes.
