Abstract
In this “Magic of Nature”, students show their ability not only to demonstrate their understanding on the principles of design but also in space composition. The concept of this project was inspired by a story about a magical board game in a movie called ‘Jumanji’. The use of the concept of nature is interesting and it allows students’ to explore in-depth about nature and its mystery. The themes of adventure and magic of nature are weaved successfully and the result presented is in the form of an enchanted forest. The focal point of the stage is placed on the twisting tree made from wires. The twisting of the branches further enhanced the dramatic expression of the enchanted forest. The juxtaposition of contrasting hues by the trees and the stage stands out due to the conscious use of combinations of colors and patterns of lines to achieve harmonious effects. The backdrop, consisting of marble and zinc stripes, represents another rhythmic sequence. This arrangement adds variety to the stage design. Furthermore, the balanced arrangement between selected elements representing nature has developed unity in the overall design and space composition.
