Abstract

Borobudur is one UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites and millions of people have visited it every year. The grandiose structure amazingly fits into its surrounding landscape of mountains, valleys and villages. Eet Shien’s work captured the connectivity that Borobudur has with the people, the surrounding landscape and even the cosmos Buddhists believe. Eet Shien brilliantly used green as the metaphor for the landscape. The colour green changes smoothly into the colour blue which she used as the metaphor for the sky or the cosmos.
