Abstract

The proposed walking campus in University Putra Malaysia an effort in introducing sustainable development approaches in to higher learning education environment. The uniqueness of this proposal lies in its ability to incorporate a comprehensive pedestrian network that links and integrates the green public spaces and users’ movements. The concept of Green Campus introduces a sustainable approach of a walking campus. It makes the spaces more vibrant and functional for the campus community to socialise and perform their recreational activities. The linear park, outdoor gathering spaces, pedestrian plazas, landscape walking corridors are some interesting elements proposed in this campus landscape development plan. The linear park and the green open spaces would provide bigger shaded area thus encourages and facilitates the campus community to walk.
