Abstract

The student has a good understanding of the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Park site which is the degradation of the urban environmental quality caused by human activity. Rapid development of Kuala Lumpur Sentral Park has transformed the area into a jungle concrete thereby limiting spaces for urban greening but increasing urban heat, air pollution, noise pollution and etc. Installation of ground vegetation planting for urban greening is therefore not feasible. Instead, the student creatively suspends the greening vertically on walls, facades, rooftops and unused spaces using green roof and green wall technology. The overall design is commendable as it meets its goals as a self-sustaining city through restoration of green infrastructure such as city farm, vertical garden, rooftop garden, watersheds and etc. all built on vertical planes. A green infrastructure will reduce the heat, provide aesthetic value and increase the economic value of buildings and businesses around Kuala Lumpur Sentral Park.
