Abstract

In Project 5, students constructed the space frames reflecting their idea of natural projections and formation on a site. The square is derived from the concept of a ‘viewfinder’ when building a perspective. It is a half rotating human scale installation set in the middle of an empty space. The installation invites and searches the right position of a natural ‘landscape picture’. The sculpture brings the eyes to clash between the natural frame of the landscape and the illusion of three dimensional perspectives at one vanishing point. This activity significantly explores the understanding of ‘real physical space’ and ‘simulated space’ in a site context by attempting to link visual phenomenon and the experience of choice in a choosen situation.
